Casa Fernandez Anniversario 2015

Smoke Time: 80 minutes

Dimensions: 7.5 x 40

Wrapper: Nicaragua

Binder, Filler: Nicaragua

Box Count: 16

Pre-Light

The wrapper is smooth. Construction is flawless. This is almost a box pressed Lancero. The cold draw is smooth and excellent, only because perfect is a dangerous word when reviewing cigars.

First Third

After an even light, hello pepper! This came as a bit of a surprise. Candidly, not the flavor that I was hoping for from Aganorsa tobacco. The pepper faded out and cinnamon overtook the flavor. The Casa Fernandez flavor consistency settled in with a cinnamon bun flavor.

Second Third

Finally, the Aganorsa sweetness meets with the cinnamon. The smoke production is moderate. Something I’ve always enjoyed about Casa Fernandez is that their focus on quality tobacco can be seen by their construction and flavor balance. A sweet creamy nuttiness dominates the middle section of this smoke. Also, the burn quality of this cigar is exceptional.

Final Third

The smoke production stays moderate and the flavor turns to a creamy coffee. A subtle vanilla note emerges in the smoke and through the nose. I noticed that the smoke cooled down on the retrohale, which is surprising at the end of a smoke. Contrary to the cool draw, the strength of this smoke really shows up at the end.

In Conclusion:

This was a really enjoyable smoke. This smoke started out very different than a lot of the Aganorsa Leaf line, but developed into a unique and flavorful experience. The entire cigar kept me interested. Construction, draw and flavor are Aganorsa.
